Despite new technology and social media, email remains the de facto way to communicate and distribute information among project participants. But email comes with limitations: it gets missed or lost in a spam folder, it generates multiple copies of the same file so that no one knows which is the latest version, and it does not provide an easy way for you to find details when you need them.

The Spitfire Project Management System provides a better means of communication, document sharing, collaboration and information storage. But, recognizing the widespread use of email, the system uses standard email protocols that are common to, and compatible with, whatever email server and client software you and your project participants may be using, including Microsoft Outlook and Google Gmail. How Email and Spitfire Work Better Together

• Spitfire uses emails to communicate with project participants who are not system users, so no one is ever out of reach
• Spitfire includes a link to a download wizard for when files are too big to attach to an email, so the size of attachments is never an issue
• Responses to Spitfire-generated emails are automatically attached to corresponding documents and archived (as emails) in the file catalog, so all authorized people can access them
• Spitfire also archives all email attachments as separate files in the catalog, using version control, so those with proper permission can access the latest version of all files
• Spitfire accepts emails from anyone and places the email and attachments in the correct project and document, so unsolicited emails (such as new RFIs) are handled intelligently
• Spitfire alerts you if emails are bounced back, so you can investigate why
